Capitalism Has Failed

Contrary to what the right spouts about socialism or communism in America, would anyone consider the pillars of our economic foundations to be anything but capitalistic?

For all the rhetoric of socialized medicine here are the facts. In 2014 UnitedHealth made 130 Billion in revenue, and over 10 billion in Operating Earnings which was 7% higher than the previous year.

Half of the country has zero net worth.
Half of the country makes less than $30,000 yearly.
7 out of 10 Americans are one missed paycheck away from financial ruin.
400 Americans are worth 2.3 Trillion.

But, a gallon of milk costs the same if you make 30k or 300k doesn't it?

Tens of millions of Full Time workers cannot afford medical coverage or food. What has capitalism brought to this nation if citizens that work, can't afford to live?

If not for the socialism of safety nets, which provide food stamps, and medical assistance subsidies, America would be indistinguishable from the 3rd world.

But why do we need to lean on the social safety net so heavily when we espouse, and practice capitalism so freely? Capitalism is supposed to lift all boats, instead the rot is sinking 99% of us to a watery grave.

How can anyone justify what the system has wrought. How can anyone say that the system is working for all us, and not just for the elites.

We are 18 trillion in debt, and are running a deficit between 400 and 500 billion for this year. We know about the empire and how much it costs to run it. But how did we run up the rest of the tab? If capitalism was truly a mighty engine delivering property to all, do you suppose we might have a surplus instead of a deficit?

Imagine if we slashed all welfare tomorrow, what would the country look like?
How is it that we are supposed to be the icon of a capitalist society but the vast majority of our citizen workers can barely afford to pay the rent?

Capitalism has failed, but are we also a failed state?
